Our Founder's Story

Born from Witness, Driven by Purpose

Gentle Hands Foundation was established after its founder witnessed preventable diabetes-related deaths in communities where education and early detection were simply out of reach. Watching families lose loved ones to a manageable condition — not from lack of care, but from lack of knowledge — ignited an unshakeable resolve.

What began as a personal mission became a structured nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that no family suffers a preventable loss. Today, we carry that founding purpose into every program, every screening, and every community we serve.

Why Diabetes Matters

A Silent Crisis Demanding Urgent Action

Diabetes is one of the fastest-growing health crises of our time — yet research from Harvard's T.H. Chan School of Public Health estimates that up to 90% of Type 2 diabetes cases could be avoided or delayed through healthy lifestyle habits. In Nigeria and underserved communities across the United States, millions face this disease without access to the knowledge or resources they need. Gentle Hands Foundation exists to change that.

Before Gentle Hands Foundation came to our community, I had no idea I was pre-diabetic. The free screening saved my life. Now I know how to eat well and stay healthy.
